Manaslu Circuit Trek Overview:

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is remote in the Himalaya, which includes a circuit of Mount Manaslu (8163m) as well as the Larkya La Pass (5106m), which is the highest pass we will reach on this trek. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is not as crowded as the treks to Everest or Annapurna and gives trekkers the chance to find solitude and experience vast wildernesses of Nepal, providing a genuine spirit of adventure. For those trekkers who wish to be beyond the touristy treks of Nepal and see what the country truly has to offer, this trek offers the opportunity to do just that.

Throughout this trip, you will be walking through river valleys and forests of pine and rhododendron trees with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and valleys that surround you. You will pass through many traditional Tibetan villages along the way, where people live a simple lifestyle much like their ancestors have for many generations.

Because Manaslu is a restricted trekking area, all travelers need to obtain a trekking permit from the Government of Nepal. These permits must be arranged through a licensed agency, such as Himalayan Friendly, which can also handle logistics, teahouse bookings, and provide local guidance along the trail. You can also check the official permit fees and updates to plan your budget accurately.

Manaslu Circuit Trek 15-day Itinerary

The 15-day Manaslu Circuit Trek itinerary takes you through remote villages, dense forests, and high mountain passes, giving you a real sense of Nepal’s wild Himalayas. The trek begins by following trails through Philim, Deng, Namrung, and Lo-Gaon, where the air turns cooler, and the scenery becomes more dramatic with each step.

As you climb higher to Sama Gaon, the main settlement of Upper Manaslu, you will be able to view the magnificent Mt. Manaslu first-hand as you walk through the terraced farming area and Buddhist settlements. As a stopover to allow for rest, Sama Gaon is where you will acclimatise before the next phase of your trek into higher elevations.

The trek continues from Sama Gaon onward to Dharamsala (the base of the significant Larkya La Pass trek). Upon ascent to the Larkya La Pass at the beginning of the following morning, it becomes the crowning point of your expedition. At almost 5,100m in elevation, you will find yourself encompassed by towering peaks of snow, a sight to behold that validates the efforts of the climb to reach this location.

After crossing Larkya La Pass, your foothold will begin to head downhill toward the Manang region, travelling through Bhim-Phedi, the Gho countryside, and eventually concluding at Dharapani, a picturesque village located on the halfway point of the Annapurna and Manaslu circuits.

The trek concludes with a scenic drive from Dharapani back to Kathmandu via Besisahar, leaving you with lasting memories of the quiet villages, stunning mountain landscapes, and the adventure of the Manaslu Circuit Trek in 15 days.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Difficulty (How Hard Is It?

The trek around the circuit of Manaslu is moderately difficult to challenging with respect to altitude (due to the length of the walking days), and it includes crossing over the Larkya La pass (5,106 m). The trek itself is not technically demanding, nor do you need climbing skills for it; however, it does require endurance.
