Tamang Heritage Trail starts with an exciting scenic overland journey to reach Syabrubesi farm village around Rasuwa district. From here, the trek follows towards higher hills to reach Gatlang Village, the largest Tamang settlement.

At Gatlang, have ample time to explore the village and immense cultures, then walk further north through Tatopani Village.

The walk leads close to the border of Nepal and Tibet, and then the route diverts with a climb to Nagethali Hilltop. The best seasons for Tamang Heritage & Langtang Valley Trekking are spring and autumn/fall. Spring starts from March to May, a lively season with longer sunlight hours for pleasant walks and views. The best times and seasons are when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various species and colors. In spring, with cold mornings, late afternoon, and night, it can get cloudy with chances of light showers and snowfall sometimes.

The next best season is the autumn/fall, which begins from September to November. It is the high season for various adventures in Nepal including Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek. Itinerary

Morning starting early for a long and exciting drive to Syabrubesi the gateway town. From here trekkers can enjoy the adventures to Tamang Heritage Trail and Langtang Valley. The drive follows north on leaving Kathmandu, heading past Trisuli town, and then to enter Rasuwa district. The road leads winding uphill to cooler hills reaching Dhunche, the headquarters town of Rasuwa district. As well as the entrance of Langtang National Park, from Dhunche downhill on the zigzagged winding road to reach Syabrubesi. Arrive by late afternoon for overnight, and then check into a nice lodge and have time to explore the town-farm village. Observe the local culture and customs of the Tamang people the tribes of Langtang and the Central Himalayan region.

After breakfast today, the first day walk starts taking the old route avoiding the main motorable road. A slow climb reaches Ronga Bhanjyang facing stunning views of the Ganesh Himal and Gosainkunda ranges with Goljung valley.

After an hour, the route descends to Goljung Valley, for a possible lunch stop, and then the trail follows to Gatlang. An impressive and large Tamang Village, with houses built with stones. The villagers welcome you with traditional greetings and spend the overnight in one of its Home-Stay Cottages.

The rest of the day is immersed in the customs and culture of the Tamang inhabitants. At Gatlang, explore the Parvati Kund and an old monastery of great religious and cultural interest.

Morning from Gatlang, the trail follows to Tatopani the walk leads downhill past several Chortens, Mani walls, and dense woodlands. Then slowly the trail leads to Thambuchet and Chilime with a nice serene lake. The huge pond was formed by the Chilime Hydropower Dam. From here climb leads towards farm terraces to cross a suspension bridge, then reach Gonggang Village.

An ideal place for a lunch stop in Gonggang village, the afternoon walk continues with a gradual climb to Tatopani. The name Tatopani is for the hot spring that existed before the huge earthquake of 2015. At present the source of the hot spring is destroyed, but the name of the village Tatopani remains.

Enjoy the comfort of a nice simple lodge accommodation with local food for dinner. Having time to explore this interesting village with beautiful surrounding scenery.

From the lodge in Tatopani, the trail leads through the forest with a slow climb and ups and downs. Then the walk reaches a lovely area of Brimdang after two hours of trekking. From here another two more hours with a steady climb to reach on top of Nagethali Danda. At the highest point of the treks, before Langtang Valley, enjoy lunch, along with a tremendous panorama of the Himalayan ranges

The views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal with peaks of Tibet just across the borders. Have time to visit several minor monasteries, and then continue walking downhill to Thuman for an overnight halt. A nice Tamang Village with great cultural hospitality. Evening, enjoy singing and dancing of strong Tibetan influence performed by the village’s cheerful young folks.

After Thuman towards Briddim, the last village around the Tamang Heritage Trail. Located across the valley and across the Bhote Koshi River, where the hike leads to a gentle trail. The route heads downhill to Timure, situated on the old trade route of Nepal and Tibet. Possible lunch stops, afternoon a steep climb to a ridge, facing views of the snow peaks. Then enter the rhododendrons, pines, and oaks forest to reach Briddim, a nice Tamang village of strong Tibetan influence.

Enjoy the last overnight around the Tamang Heritage Trail before heading towards the mainstream route to Langtang Valley.

After a wonderful time in Briddim village, the morning walk leads to cross the Bhote Koshi River Valley. They enter through a lovely cool forest of bamboo and birch groves, with terraced fields. Around the tranquil areas chances of spotting some rare wildlife like the red pandas. The trail ascends gently to Rimche through Bamboo Village, which is close to the banks of the Langtang River. The walk continues until you reach Lama Hotel, for the first overnight around the main trail to Langtang Valley.

Lama Hotel is located in a river gorge amidst dense woods, The morning walk starts following the river upstream through lovely trees. Reaching a nice spot at Ghode Tabela for lunch, an afternoon walk into the forested trail to Langtang Village.
Trekkers can see the rubble of big boulders from the avalanches that destroyed the village in the 2015 earthquakes. Many local people were killed as well as some foreign trekkers, and a small memorial of Stupa stands in the village.
The village has been rebuilt and life is slowly coming back to normal, enjoy the comfort of a nice simple lodge.

From Langtang Village today a short walk to Kyanjin Gompa for lunch and overnight stop. The walk follows past to adjoining village of Mundu with a short steep climb then into a wide valley. From here the tall tree lines drop for short juniper bushes, facing views of Langtang Himal with Dorje Lakpa.

Slowly the walk reaches a lovely large settlement of Kyanjin Gompa with a small monastery. The lodges here are much better than previous overnight stops, enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge accommodation. Arriving at Kyanjin Gompa for lunch and two overnight stops, located amidst beautiful surroundings amidst Langtang Valley, Afternoon explore the Kyanjin areas and its small monastery of great religious and cultural interest.

An enjoyable and exciting place Kyanjin Gompa for rest day, having breakfast options for short and long day hike. The short hike is a climb to Kyanjin-Ri at 4,773 m and the longer hike of 4-5 hours. It is a steep climb up to Tserko-Ri. Which is at 5,033 m high, both viewpoints offer spectacular panorama of the surrounding giant peaks. Includes super vista of Langtang Himal range with Langtang Lirung and Langtang-Ri. Overlooking as far as Jugal Himal, Yala Peak and Dorje Lakpa with some mountains across the border in Tibet.  Rest of the afternoon at leisure amidst beautiful mountain surroundings at Kyanjin Gompa.

Enjoy a wonderful time at Kyanjin, with glorious views of towering snow-capped peaks. After breakfast enjoy the longest day walks to Lama Hotel, with a long stretch of downhill. Reaching back into tall tree lines past Mundu, and Langtang villages to reach Lama Hotel for an overnight stop.

On the last day trek of the adventure, a morning walk follows on the same trail, enjoying the views along the route. The walk leads downhill through a forested path, heading past farm areas. Then finally the walk reached Syabrubesi for the last overnight around the Langtang Himal region and in Rasuwa district.

The morning after last overnight in a mountain village at Syabrubesi and around Langtang Himal region. The drive follows on the same interesting highway past farm villages and towns to reach Kathmandu. Arriving in the late afternoon, the rest of the evening for leisure activities or shopping for souvenirs.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, after a great memorable adventure around the Annapurna Himalayas. Enjoying a great time on Langtang Valley Trekking. As time for your international airport terminal, our guide and staff transfer you to the International Airport. Then bid farewell to Nepal and guide, the staff, as you enter the air terminal for a homeward-bound flight.

In the popular areas around Nepal Himalayas, like Annapurna and Everest including Langtang Valley. The Tea Houses have mushroomed in each designated overnight stop, as per the standard itineraries. In the early days beyond permanent villages, temporary settlements were established as the flow of trekkers increased. Due to the influx of trekkers demand many Tea Houses were built. In those days it was known as Tea Houses having simple lodges with basic rooms and facilities. At present in Langtang Valley, trekkers can have the option of single or double bedrooms. But most lodges provide rooms with common toilets and bathrooms, as the plumbing systems of water pipelines freeze. Especially, during the morning and nighttime, when temperatures reach less than minus degrees Celsius. The rooms are good and simple, as well as clean, but best to have your sleeping bags. Which is much more hygienic, as the blankets provided, sometimes it is not clean, due to the cold temperatures.
