Chitwan is a district of Narayani zone, located around Nepal mid-south lowland Terai belt. Besides farm areas, rural village and big towns its vast area is covered by dense tropical jungles. Includes 20 % of grassland, 7 % of riverine forest and 3% chirpine, are found in the Churiya (Siwalik) range. The riverine forests mainly consist of Khair, Sisso and Simal or kapok (the Silk Cotton tree). The grasslands of 50 various species, the Saccharin species, popularly known as elephant grass of more than
8 m tall. The shorter grasses such as Imperata are used by the locals for thatch roofs. Chitwan National Park is also famous for over 450 species of birdlife with endangered birds the Bengal florican. The Giant Hornbill, the Lesser Florican, the Black Stork and White Stork. The most common birds are Peacock, Red Jungle fowl, and different species of Egrets, Herons, Kingfishers, Flycatchers and Woodpeckers.

An exciting and interesting overland journey from Kathmandu to reach Chitwan National Park premises. After a good breakfast, board in a vehicle according to group size, either in a car, coach or 4WD Jeep. The drive leads away from the Kathmandu Valley heading south-west on the main Nepal Highway. The drive heads down on winding road with grand views of Langtang, Ganesh and
Manaslu Himal as far as Annapurna ranges. The drive follows through farm towns and villages reaching the mid lower hills. Then our route leads along the Trisuli River all the way down south to Chitwan. As the drive leads past the Narayanghat and Bharatpur the major cities of Chitwan district.
On reaching the warm low land of Terai belt, our journey diverts heading south towards the jungles of Chitwan. An early morning by 6 a.m. get refreshed with tea or coffee, the guide will take you for nature walks.
