Langtang Valley Trek distances to cover the whole journey take about a week. This includes a rest day at the highest overnight stop, Kyanjin Gompa, located at the western end of the picturesque Langtang Valley. The mileage and distances are the same from the start of trekking to the finishing point at Syabrubesi Village.

The only difference is the hours of walking; for some, it might take a shorter time to reach the designated overnight stop. Whereas, some can take longer than the average hours of walking as per the itinerary provided. Nevertheless, Langtang Valley Trek is one of the best adventure destinations
in the Himalayas. It is the third most popular among trekkers, after Annapurna and Everest regions. The trek is of moderate-grade adventure with a slight touch of high altitude, as the walk progresses towards Langtang Valley. The highest overnight stop is at Kyanjin Gompa 3,870 m / 12,697 feet high,
saddled within the beautiful Langtang Valley. Langtang Himal is situated around Central Himalayas, are the closest mountain ranges to the capital Kathmandu. Its proximity by overland journey makes Langtang Valley, the most sought adventure destination. Langtang Valley is one the few high-altitude treks without much problem of catching HAS or high altitude sickness.

The elevation gains at a gradual pace, as you walk from one designated overnight stand to another. The trekkers get slowly acclimatized to reach the much-awaited scenic valley of Langtang at Kyanjin Gompa.
Besides the highest overnight stops at Kyanjin Gompa, trekkers can enjoy short or long hikes to Kyanjin-Ri or Tserko-Ri. Kyanjin-Ri stands high at 4,773 m/15,660 feet and Tserko-Ri is quite high at
5,033 m/16,512 feet. Both ridges offer spectacular views and panorama of the Central Himalayas with all of Langtang Himal ranges. A great trek of this adventurous journey, climbing on top of Kyanjin-Ri and Tserko- Ri, is suitable for all age groups.

LANGTANG VALLEY TREK DISTANCE ON DAILY WALKS:

Syabrubesi Village is at 1,470 m/ 4,823 feet high, after overnight stops the trek starts from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel. Walk to Lama Hotel 2,455 m/8,055 ft. Approx. 14 km or 9 miles, takes about 6 hours. Includes lunch stops in between in the best available local Tea Houses.  Lama Hotel located amidst the forest surroundings and close to Langtang River, offers several simple lodge accommodations.  From Lama Hotel, the second day of the trek leads to Langtang Village or Mundu which is about 12 km/7.5 miles. The walk of approx. 6 hours, due to a gradual rise in altitude to reach 3,425 m/ 11,237 feet high. It is an interesting walk through a forest of tall rhododendrons, pines, fir, and oaks with hemlock trees. Langtang and Mundu Village are close apart and offer several good and simple lodges and food. From here onwards the tall trees and dense vegetation decline for a few smaller alpine bushes and shrubs.
Langtang Village or from Mundu to Kyanjin Gompa 3,870 m/12,697 feet, a short distance of 3-4 hours of good walks. Covering a distance of approx. 8 km or 5 miles, as you enter the scenic Langtang Valley at Kyanjin Gompa.

AT KYANJIN GOMPA REST DAY FOR OPTIONAL HIKES:

Kyanjin Gompa is the highest spot for overnight stops and the major highlight of Langtang Valley Trekking. Normally most trekkers spend an extra day at Kyanjin Gompa to explore its picturesque surroundings. Enjoy observing the impressive cultures of the Buddhist religion, and visit the small monastery. The Gompa means monastery in the local Tamang language, similar to its Tibetan predecessors across the border in Tibet. Kyanjin Gompa is a moderate-sized settlement situated on the western rim of the scenic Langtang Valley.

At Kyanjin, trekkers can enjoy short or long hikes to Kyanjin-Ri, towers above the lodge at Kyanjin Gompa. A hike of more than 2 hours’ steep climbs to the ridge of Kyanjin-Ri at 4,773 m/15,660 feet. One of the great viewpoints to enjoy the grand vista of surrounding towering snow-capped peaks of the Langtang Himal ranges. The climb of 2-3 km distances can be quite windy during afternoon time.
The next best and longest hike of more than 12 km, both ways for the climb to Tserko-Ri is 5,033 m /16,512 feet. The highest point of the trek for people who enjoy the long day hike on a spare day at Kyanjin Gompa.  For this long hike to Tserko-Ri, a packed lunch or snacks should be carried with warm water or tea in the flask.

THE RETURN JOURNEY TO SYABRUBESI AND KATHMANDU:

After an exciting and enjoyable time at Kyanjin Gompa and around the picturesque locations of Langtang Valley. The return journey is a long walk to Lama Hotel taking more than six hours. Covers a distance of approx. 20 km or 13 miles downhill with few short up to reach Lama Hotel.
From the Lama Hotel enjoy the last day of hiking, before completing the journey at Syabrubesi Village. Today’s walk leads to moderate distances of about 14 km/ 9 miles, takes more than 5-6 hours. The trail leads to a pleasant walk on losing altitude as the trail follows downhill toward warmer farm areas.
Then finally ending the trek reaching Syabrubesi, after a pleasant day walk.

Spending the last overnight stop at Syabrubesi Village in the comfort of a nice lodge with warm traditional hospitality.  The next morning enjoying the last breakfast around the mountain village of Rasuwa district and Langtang Himal regions. The morning drive leads to a winding up to Dhunche, the headquarters town of the Rasuwa District. The drive follows on a gradual winding road through several farm villages and towns to a nice place of Nuwakott. Possible lunch stops at Trisuli Bazaar, then continue the drive back to Kathmandu. To conclude the great wonderful experience on Langtang Valley Trekking.

CONCLUSION:

Langtang Valley Trekking, the total walking distance is approx. 66 km/41 miles, the hours of trek daily. It entirely depends upon one’s fitness level, and stamina to overcome the steep climbing en route overnight stops. The average day walk from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel and Langtang Village is
5-6 hours. The shortest walk from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa around Langtang Valley is a 3-4 hours’ scenic hike. The longest walk on the return journey to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa is more than 6-7 hours.
