EXPLORING LANGTANG VALLEY:
Exploring Langtang Valley in the heart of the Central Himalayan ranges of Langtang Himal starts with an exciting drive to Syabrubesi. It is a small town almost the size of a moderate mountain village located at 1,470 m high. Besides the starting and ending points of Langtang Himal, Syabrubesi is also the gateway of the Ganesh Himal and Tibet/China border.
The trek from Syabrubesi leads higher entering a serene forest covered in tall rhododendrons, pines, oaks, and magnolia with fir trees. The trail follows Langtang Khola upstream to Lama Hotel, and then towards Langtang Village.
On leaving Langtang Village and above the tree lines to enter the picturesque
Langtang Valley at Kyanjin Gompa. It is located on the western rim of the valley floor at 3,870 m high. Kyanjin Gompa and Langtang Valley are surrounded by towering snow peaks of Langtang Himal as far as Jugal Himal.
Kyanjin Gompa is a lovely settlement with several good lodges and guest houses for the trekker’s overnight stops. It is a perfect height and scenic spot to spend extra days, for acclimatization hikes to its scenic viewpoints ridges.
At Kyanjin Gompa explore Kyanjin-Ri at 4,773 m / 15,660 feet and Tserko-RI’s top is above 5,033 m/16,512 feet. These high ridge tops offer a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding giant peaks. The closest view of Langtang Himal and its adjoining peaks, the highest among all is Langtang Lirung at 7,246 m.
Includes views of the mountains across the border in Tibet and as far as Jugal Himal towards the east. After spending two overnights at Kyanjin Gompa the return trek back at Syabrubesi and drive to Kathmandu.
Langtang Valley and Kyanjin Gompa are the adventure routes to the high Ganja-La Pass to reach Helambu. As well as towards Panch Pokhari via high Tilman Col a pass at 5,320 meters. Langtang Valley is a perfect holiday destination for all people and age groups, with a touch of high-altitude adventures.
EXPLORING NAMCHE BAZAAR:
Namche Bazaar is the major hub of Khumbu villagers, and the gateway to Everest base camp. Includes various scenic high destinations like Tengboche Monastery and the picturesque Gokyo Valley of lakes.
Namche Bazaar is a day’s walk from the starting point of Lukla Town the door to the high Khumbu and Everest regions. Located at 3,440 m high, it makes an ideal height for trekkers to spend an extra day. It is for acclimatization before heading towards higher adventurous destinations and Everest Base Camp.
At Namche Bazaar, a colorful and busy market is held weekly on Saturday, hence the name Namche Bazaar. It is one of the most fascinating towns/villages to explore its surroundings and viewpoints for a glimpse of Mt. Everest.
Namche Bazaar provides excellent lodges, hotels, fancy restaurants, and fresh bakeries with banks and ATM facilities.
Trek to Namche Bazaar is exciting from Lukla town after reaching from Kathmandu taking a short flight. The trail follows through lovely Sherpa villages adorned with religious monuments of stupas and prayer walls.
Stopping an overnight at Phakding village after 3-4 hours of good walks from Lukla. The next day’s adventure continues to Namche Bazaar following the glacial Dudh Koshi River to enter Sagarmatha National Park. Then leaving the last Jorsalle village with an undulating climb up to the famous Namche Bazaar. It is like a modern Shangri-La for worldwide visitors, where houses are built on an amphitheater. At Namche Bazaar enjoy ample time to explore its scenic ridges for views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Include an array of snow peaks of Nuptse, Khangtiaga, and Tharmasarku with Kwangde Himal.
Enjoy visiting an interesting museum nearby that offers wide information on the Sherpa cultures, and mountaineering history. The other best place is a few hour’s climb to Everest View Hotel. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s highest hotel at 3,962 meters/13,000 feet.
Namche Bazaar is about 13 km or 9 miles from Lukla, trekkers cover the distance in two days.
THE BEST SEASONS FOR NAMCHE BAZAAR AND LANGTANG VALLEY:
Trekkers can enjoy the walk around these two exciting and scenic destinations in all seasons. Except during the wet times of summer and monsoon seasons of mid-June to August. The best are spring and autumn/fall, days are bright and lively for scenic mountain views.
Spring begins in March and ends in May, when most days are full of sunshine and a clear fine day. Morning, late afternoon, and nights will be cold with chances of snowfall sometimes. Spring is the best for nature lovers when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, the rhododendrons of various species. Includes magnolia, primula, violets, Iris, and with several species.
The next best seasons for Namche Bazaar and Langtang Valley are autumn/fall,
Autumn starts from September to November. Days are clear for views and pleasant walks, an exciting time for Namche Bazaar and Langtang Valley treks.
It gets cold in the morning, late afternoon, and nighttime, expect light snowfall sometimes.
Interested trekkers can enjoy these short treks in the winter time December to February. Despite the cold winter months, most days are clear and fine for exciting views and scenic walks.
